Compassion. Accountability. Results.
Carry the Torch benefits the Volunteer Ministry Center (VMC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness. Founded in 1987, VMC takes a housing first approach to homelessness, meaning that the goal for clients is first to achieve housing and then work to maintain housing. All activities are done within a case management model and the case management relationship extends post housing to ensure success. VMC also operates the Bush Family Refuge, which is dedicated to homeless prevention, the VMC Dental Clinic, a comprehensive and free dental clinic for uninsured and low-income individuals of Knox County, and Minvilla Manor, a 57 permanent supportive housing facility.
